Community Guidelines
DSCO puts real people on a map near each other. That only works if it feels safe. These guidelines are the rules everyone agrees to follow — written plainly, because they're mostly common sense. Break them and your content comes down and your account can be warned, suspended, or banned. They apply everywhere on DSCO: your profile and avatar, pins and notes, stories and photos, and every message you send.
The short version
Treat people the way you'd want to be treated if they could see roughly where you are. Don't harass, threaten, deceive, or endanger anyone. Don't post anything you wouldn't want a stranger nearby to see. If someone makes you uncomfortable, block and report them — those tools are there for you, and we act on reports.
Harassment and bullying
Don't target anyone with behavior meant to intimidate, threaten, degrade, or wear them down. That includes repeated unwanted contact after someone has blocked or ignored you, insults and slurs aimed at a person, coordinated pile-ons, and using DSCO's map to follow, corner, or show up on someone who doesn't want you there. Persistent unwanted attention is harassment even when no single message looks extreme on its own.
Hate speech
Don't attack, dehumanize, or promote hatred or violence against people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, disease, age, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Slurs, hateful symbols, and content that celebrates or excuses harm to these groups are not allowed.
Sexual content and nudity
DSCO is not a place for pornography or sexually explicit media. Don't post nudity, sexually explicit images or video, or content whose main purpose is sexual gratification. Don't send unsolicited sexual messages or images to anyone. Don't use DSCO to solicit sex for money. Nothing sexual involving minors is ever allowed under any circumstances — see below.
Minor safety
DSCO is for adults 18 and over. You must be 18 to have an account. There is zero tolerance for anything that endangers or exploits a minor: sexualized content involving anyone under 18 (real, drawn, or generated), grooming, or any attempt to contact or meet a minor for sexual purposes. We remove this content immediately, ban the account, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and law enforcement as required by law. If you believe a minor is using DSCO or is in danger, report it right away.
Spam and scams
Don't flood people or the map with repetitive, bulk, or automated content. Don't run scams, phishing, fake giveaways, pyramid or investment schemes, or bait-and-switch offers. Don't post misleading links or try to drive people off DSCO to defraud them. Don't use bots, scrapers, or fake accounts to inflate presence or reach.
Impersonation
Be yourself. Don't pretend to be another person, a business, or an organization you don't represent, and don't set up an account to deceive people about who they're talking to. Parody is fine only when it's obviously not the real person and isn't used to mislead, harass, or defraud. Using someone else's photos or identity to trick people is not allowed.
Self-harm and suicide
Don't post content that promotes, encourages, or glorifies suicide or self-harm, and don't pressure or dare anyone toward it. Talking about your own struggle or recovery is allowed and welcome — we draw the line at content that could push someone toward hurting themselves. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please contact your local emergency services or a suicide-prevention line right now. In the US you can call or text 988.
Violence and threats
Don't threaten to hurt anyone, and don't celebrate, incite, or plan violence. That covers direct threats, wishing harm on a specific person, glorifying violent acts or the people who commit them, and promoting or coordinating with violent or terrorist groups. Credible threats of harm may be reported to law enforcement.
Illegal content and activity
Don't use DSCO to do, arrange, or promote anything illegal. That includes selling drugs, weapons, or other regulated or stolen goods; trafficking of any kind; and posting content that is unlawful where you are. Don't post content you don't have the rights to. If it would be a crime offline, it's not allowed here.
Privacy and other people's information
Respect other people's privacy the way you'd want yours respected. Don't post someone's private information — home address, phone number, financial details, or precise location — without their consent, and never to threaten, expose, or intimidate them (doxxing). Don't share private photos, messages, or intimate images of someone without their permission. Because DSCO shares location, be especially careful: don't use anyone's location against their wishes, and don't reveal where someone is to people they haven't chosen to share with. You control your own discoverability in Settings — everyone, friends only, or hidden.
Everything else
These guidelines can't list every bad idea. The spirit is simple: don't use DSCO to harm, deceive, exploit, or endanger other people, and don't try to route around these rules with technicalities or throwaway accounts. We may remove content or take action on conduct that violates the spirit of these guidelines even if it isn't spelled out above. When we do, you'll get a clear reason and a way to appeal.
Reporting and blocking
Every profile, message, pin, and piece of content has a report control, and you can block anyone at any time. Blocking is immediate and bidirectional — they can't see you and you can't see them. Reports are confidential. We review them and act on them, and we aim to act on reports of objectionable content within 24 hours by removing the content and the account behind it. If you're ever in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first — not us.
How we enforce
Depending on what happened and whether it's a repeat, we may remove content, issue a warning, temporarily suspend an account, or permanently ban it. Serious violations — anything involving minors, credible threats, or clear intent to harm — can lead to an immediate ban with no prior warning. Lesser violations follow a strikes model: three community-guideline strikes within 90 days will suspend your account.
When we take action against your account, we tell you which rule was involved and give you a way to respond. If you think we got it wrong, you can appeal from inside the app, and a person will review it.
How these fit together
These guidelines are part of your agreement with DSCO and work alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. The Terms explain the real-world risks of meeting people you don't know; please read that section before you meet anyone. We may update these guidelines as the app grows; the version and date at the top tell you which text is current.
